If the underwater stars that dazzle you are star fish, starlets and feather stars, then Park Hyatt Hadahaa is the place to swim to and at.

Adrian Neville tweeted last week, “Park Hyatt house reef, the best corals of any resort bar none. But oddly the fish life is as quiet as life on the island.”

Not much better authority than Adrian Neville. And he’s just finished latest research for his upcoming edition of his must-have book on Maldives resorts ‘Resorts of the Maldives’. Check out his Twitter stream for 140-character advance tidbits.

Hadahaa is in the Gaafu Alifu atoll which Harwood and Bryning’s book “Complete Guide to Diving and Snorkeling the Maldives” describes as “The coral reefs inside the atoll are in great condition and a marvel to dive and snorkel” (see picture above).

Maldive afficionado Francisco Negrin endorsed this selection in an email to me...“In particular, my candidate for best coral reef ever is the dive site called Doragalla Thila, about 45 minutes Dhoni ride from Alila, off the inhabited island of Dhandhoo, and a site they are attempting to have declared a marine reserve, with amazing 5 meter tall columnar corals thousands of years old and fully alive, and huge round corals of unheard of size.  The place is magical, and unlike anything I have seen anywhere else in the world.  Other dive sites include incredible channel dives with masses of sharks, rays and turtles and sailfish etc etc but unlike other atolls because with the bottoms covered in wall to wall coral, even at 30 m.  To die for.”

Here we had professional photografers with us to make photos of it but they gave up, because it is impossible to get this on photo."
